We
want to emphasize the business success obtained by the three
companies which have been collaborating on the launching of
the new sewing thread COURTAULDS LYOCELL; Coutaulds
Fibres, that it provides us with raw materials, the Catalan
group VICHINDUSTRIAL, that fabrics threads and HILATURAS
JORDÁ, that it is in charge of the finish and distribution
of the products which will be sold in Europe, Australia and
Nord of Africa. The fact that this new thread have been launched
from a company located in Alcoy is a milestone that will bring
with it the beginning of new ways for the research and textile
innovation in the city. The success of this launching derives
from the understanding and spirit of cooperation between the
companies that have collaborated, the support of the Technical
Institut "Aitex" and The Industrial College of Alcoy. It is
worth mentioning that the specialized magazine "Textile Express"
included the launching of this sewing thread after its presentation
in Paris.
Properties
The new thread fiber that was launched by
Courtaulds comes from the wood pulp, from 100% recycable woods.
This is a biological and biodegradable product because for
its development it is used a solvent spinnig process that
can be completly recycled, being its residues minimal and
completly harmless. The Courtaulds Lyocell opens new opportunities
for the cloths finish because it has a low shrinking index
and can be combined with high quality natural fibers increasing
consequently its output. The new thread both takes the advantage
of offering a high strenght both in dry and wet cleaning higher
than other cellulosical fibers. This fiber has an easy manufature
owing to the surface mass, the humidity absorption and its
ridged opening. It has also a good regularity and a law index
of defects. In the same way it has been got to produce a wide
range of numbers in the sewing thread (50/2, 50/3 y 74/2 in
thin threads; 43/3, 36/3, 25/2 y 25/3 in thick numbers)
Applications
The Courtaulds fiber properties let this
new thread be very adaptable to its application in articles
of clothing, leather goods,eiderdowns and jeans thanks to
its toughness in dry washing that is higher than other cellulosical
fibers. Wet it has a 85%of strength and it is stronger than
cotton. It endures very well the washing and its high toughness
let use a big variety of finish mechanical treatmens in order
to obtain innovatory effects. Furthermore, it has a bigger
capacity of dyeing absorption than cotton, a high affinity
with artificial colors and a high sewing index. |
